New York, New York

Merry Christmas, Yankees fans! Johnny Damon - the long-haired, former Red Sox heartthrob - just signed a four-year contract with the Bombers worth $52 million. Not only does this end the search for a center fielder, but it adds more power to the top of the line-up.

Not everyone is thrilled with this new addition. But given the history and The Rivalry, this trade is about more than just payments and stats.

And, while we're talking about NYC...the transit union strike has entered the second day, forcing millions of New Yorkers to hoof it from the Bronx to the Brooklyn Bridge.

Mayor Mike might want to follow the lead of a real Republican when it comes to illegal strikes.
"It was in recognition of this that the Congress passed a law forbidding strikes by government employees against the public safety... It is for this reason that I must tell those who fail to report for duty this morning they are in violation of the law, and if they do not report for work within 48 hours, they have forfeited their jobs and will be terminated." ~President Reagan, addressing the air-traffic controllers strike.
